Peter, tell us a little bit about yourself!
“My mother has always been my inspiration in life – although life has been quite tough, she has instilled an ethic of hard work and respect in her children. I joined HHFL in 2009 and am always ready to help my fellow peers in their times of need, particular when it is first aid related. In my free time, I enjoy playing badminton.”
What does going to College or University mean to you?
“College to me is a place where I can acquire the knowledge and marketable skills needed to succeed in the career that I’ve always dreamed of – graphic design. It will allow me upward mobility in my career choice, which I believe is important when I think about my aspirations of living a comfortable life.”
What inspired you to choose your dream career path?
“The reason why I have chosen IT and graphic design as my career path is because of my love of computers and the digital arts. I am very creative and have always loved to express myself through art! At times I do find working with computers to be rigorous but I am not afraid of a good challenge. I believe that graphic design will continue to have great career prospects in Kenya’s rapidly evolving world of technology.”
Why do you deserve this opportunity?
“I believe that I deserve to go to College because I have fire in my belly to succeed. HHF has taught me that ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’ and that we must take ownership of our lives. Given the chance, I will own every aspect of my success going forward and do whatever it takes to break through into a comfortable life.”
If you could walk in someone else’s shoes for one day, who would you choose and why?
“I would definitely walk in Bill Gates’ shoes because he’s so innovative and knows so much about computers! With so many ideas under his belt, I want to know the sort of thought processes that go on in his mind and apply that to my own development in the field.”
